Though 343 Sansome St. offers a lunchtime mall area on its ground level, the real jewel of this building is its 15th floor rooftop terrace. Beautifully landscaped with a diverse array of flowers, olive trees and plants of all kinds, this spacious area gets wonderful sun on a nice day, boasts glorious views in all directions, and is one of the most peaceful retreats from the street-level bustle you can find in the FiDi.
The roof deck's centerpiece is a modern obelisk surrounded by geometric patterns in the ground. There are plenty of benches, but only a few tables and chairs, which do tend to get filled during lunch hours by those in-the-know enough to enjoy their meals in this lovely zone. If the sun is shining, don't hesitate to make your way up here to soak up your share of Vitamin D. It's well worth the long elevator ride.
