1 Kearny St. Terrace

This delightful 11th-floor rooftop area is an amazing retreat from the chaos of the buzzing hordes below. Having opened just this winter, it is the newest addition to the city's public-within-private spaces, and boasts a fantastic, 270-degree view of Market St. and downtown. The only problem is, the street-level sign announcing its existence to the public is a tiny, knee-level piece of glass that's almost impossible to notice.
No matter, now you know – if you ever need escape from the teeming Market St. masses, this is your haven in the sky. It features plenty of benches and well-trimmed shrubbery, and is often nearly empty due to its criminally hidden signage. And, did I mention clean, private bathrooms? God knows you've been stuck downtown with nowhere to relieve yourself before. Here's your answer.
Location: 1 Kearny St. , San Francisco
